Description
When Homer Laughlin China Company (in Newell, West Virginia) fired our iconic 1917 Centennial Watch Mug™ a decade ago, a few mugs had cosmetic imperfections common to all high-fired porcelain. Common examples include:
• small iron inclusions in the original clay, which show up as black bumps;
• pits in the glaze, caused by a steam bubble;
• iron staining under the glaze;
• irregularities in the mug’s foot, the unglazed circle on the bottom; and
• irregular stamps.
Seconds are dishwasher proof, oven proof, microwaveable, and lead free. We use them daily at home, and many of the fragments we found on Glass Beach at U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have identical blemishes, so seconds are even historically accurate!
Each mug is in an individual box stamped “Not Fragile,” just like our original. We include an information sheet with historical phots in each shipper package. This price is half off our original price!
